Eastern philosophy teaches that body and mind form a single entity which can not be treated separately. The foundation of good health and a happy life is according to this philosophy, the harmony, balance and integration of this entity. Further importance is put on methods to quiet the mind and clear and organize the body and integrate the two into one well functioning whole.
Zero Balancing (ZB) is a gentle yet powerful hands-on therapy, designed by Dr Fritz Smith, which works directly with the wisdom from the East, and integrates it with Western scientific and medical knowledge through the medium of conscious touch. With finger pressure and held stretches, ZB invites the release of tension accumulated in the deep structure of the body. Through this ZB promotes greater harmony, balance and integration within the body and a better relationship between body and mind. ZB provides a point of stillness around which the body can relax, giving an opportunity to let go of unease and pain and experience a new level of integration.
About Dr Fritz Smith
Fritz Frederick Smith, the founder of Zero Balancing, was born in 1929. He initially studied sciences and achieved a BA in Zoology and Chemistry. In 1955 he became an osteopathic physician and surgeon, and in 1961 graduated with an MD. However, as his medical understanding could not account for things he experienced regarding the human body and healing, he explored into cranial osteopathy, clinical hypnosis and structural integration (Rolfing).
